Siem Riep - The Cradle of Angkor Civilization - Where Combodian were Born, this is also a famous Archaeological City, as named as one of the seven greatest architectural wonders of the World. Covering approx 600 sq km, it contains more than 100 fabulous ancient monuments and over dozen major compound Temples, which were built during the most splendid Era of the Khmer Dynasty between the 9th – 13th century and were the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire. The constant building program undertaken by successive Khmer kings can be compared favourably with the pyramid construction projects of the Pharaohs in Egypt. Similar to the Pharaohs, the Khmer kings made use of a vast force of slave labour. Each new "project" was made possible by the 750,000 people estimated to have lived at Angkor during the 12th and 13th centuries. Firstly, visit Angkor Wat – one of the seven greatest architectural wonders of the world, as a temple and mausoleum for King Suryavarman II at the peak of the Khmer empire in the first half of 12th, Angkor Wat is probably the best-preserved of the Angkorean temples, with a central tower surrounded by four smaller towers. The central monument represents the mythical Mount Meru, the holy mountain at the centre of the universe, which was home to the Hindu God Vishnu. The whole complex covers 81 hectares, a rectangular wall measuring 1025 metres by 800 metres borders the inner edge of the moat, and temple's greatest sculptural treasure is its 2 km-long bas-reliefs around the walls... Continuing to the most rememberable Temples that built from 9th to 11th century such as: the Southern Entrance Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple – built by Jayavarman VII at the end of the 12th, in the exact center of the city of Angkor Thom, proceeding to Baphuon, Terrace of the Elephants & Terrace of the Leper King. (B, L, D) Day 3 : SIEM RIEP fullday tour - PHNOM PENH A halfday tour for Angkor complex on morning, visit Kravan, Srash Srong, Ta Keo temples, is a pyramid on 5 levels whose total height is 22 metres and dedicated to Shiva, continuing to visit most rememberable Temples that build from 9th to 11th cntury such as: Preah Rup, Preah Neak Pean , Preah Khan & Ta Phrom Temple, was a monastery built by Jayavarman VII as a residence for his mother. Ta Prohm has been controversially left to the destructive power of the jungle by French archeologists to show how nature can destroy man's work. It has been largely overgrown by the jungle and as you climb through the dilapidated stone structures you see many giant trees growing out of the top of the temple itself. Ta Prohm looks as many of the monuments did when European explorers first laid eyes on them. Visit the Royal Palace compound, was built by King Norodom in 1866, inside its gleaming yellow walls are most conspicuous feature and impressive colorful Khmer-style Halls for the Royal family, then visit Silver Pagoda, located in the compound of the Royal Palace. Inside its floor is constructed of 5000 silver tiles. In the center of the pagoda there is a magnificent 17th-century emerald Buddha statue made of baccarat crystal and its walls enclosing are covered with frescoes depicting episodes from the Khmer version of the Ramayana. Landscapes en route are very interesting with the immense rice-fields, farmers are working in the fields, small and peace villages, ethnic minority hamlet, country markets ....there are the sweet beginnings to talk with then explaination of Cambodia by our tour guides. From the fertile lowlands of the Mekong River valley to the rugged Annamite highlands, Laos is the highlight of southeast Asia. Sits on a bend in the Mekong River amid fertile alluvial plains. Despite its chequered past, Vientiane is a laid-back city with a number of interesting wats and lively markets. Fullday tour to visit Wat Sisaket, built in 1818 by Chao Anou - the very king esponsible for incurring the wrath of the Siamese and causing his capital's obliteration. The interior of the main hall, and the walls of the surrounding courtyard, are inset with thousands of tiny niches and shelves containing 6840 Buddha images and Buddhist inscriptions from the 18th century. Inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the Patouxai (Lao for Gateway of Victory) is adorned with an array of rough hero Lao historical imagery and offers a splendid, panoramic view of the city from its top. Peoceeding to Wat Ho Phakeo – a former royal temple, built in 1565 by King Setthathirat, the temple was originally designed to house the famous Emerald Buddha, which he had brought with him from the Kingdom of Lanna, That Luang - The most important national monument in Vientiane, is a symbol of both Buddhism and Lao sovereignty, was constructed in 1566 by King Setthathirat Lao Revolutionary Museum, a monument to Laos' long struggle to free itself from colonization. Though virtually nothing of the magnificent 14th century capital of Fa Ngoum has survived the ravages of time and numerous invasions, the city is still a veritable treasure trove of beautiful temples, and historical monuments of the kingdoms that rose and fell in the centuries that followed. Visit Wat Xieng Thong, with its golden facades and mural paintings, is a masterpiece of 16th century Buddhist architecture. The temple was used for the highest royal ceremonies and to temporarily house the bodies of the deceased kings, proceeding to Wat Mai temple from in 1821 , and Wat Visaounarath, inside you will see the stupa which is know as that Makmo because the form is like the half of Watermelon. The National Museum, formerly the Royal Palace, situated on the banks of the Mekong River, was constructed to French designs for King Sisavangvong between 1904 and 1909, also a vast assortment of gifts and other paraphernalia collected by the former kings and queens of Laos, and a replica of the country's palladium, the golden PraBang. A repository for old or damaged Buddha images that once graced household shrines, the caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum have become highly venerated sanctuaries. During Lao New Year boatloads of Luang Prabang residents make the 25km pilgrimage up the Mekong River to the caves to wash the Buddha images and make merit, just opposite Mekong river’s bank is the village of Ban Xang Hai. Though for centuries the village made its living by crafting stoneware jars, more recently it has become famous for brewing a particularly fiendish liquor, made from fermented sticky rice, called 'laolao.' Most boatmen running tours to the Pak Ou Caves include a stop at the 'Whisky Village' seeming to appreciate that a quick drink is required after viewing all those damaged Buddha images !
