YANGON - BAGAN - MANDALAY - HEHO - PINDAYA - INLE LAKE

Day 1: ARRIVAL IN YANGON (by A/C car)

Arrival at Yangon International Airport from Bangkok by Thai Airways via TG303 at 09.00 (daily flight).

Welcome to Yangon. Our guide will meet and transfer you to hotel for check-in.

After freshening up, discover the colourful capital of Myanmar with a close look at the local life of this historical city. A sightseeing tour includes the old colonial-style city center with the gilded Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years. The tour continues to Chauk Htat Gyi, a huge reclining Buddha image followed by a photo stop made at Karaweik Hall, a royal floating barge. An extended visit to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world’s most spectacular religious monuments, will conclude the tour of this picturesque Garden City. The golden dome of the Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold.

In the afternoon, enjoy by car and partly on foot. This tour takes in the National Museum, walk around to see the Mahabandoola Park, the Colonial Courthouse and the City Hall. From there a rickshaw tour around the Colonial Area with the historical buildings will start, breaking at a local teashop to enjoy Burmese Tea and the typical atmosphere.

Return to the hotel and free at leisure. Overnight in Yangon.

 

Day 2: YANGON - BAGAN (by A/C car, plane)

Early check out, breakfasts in box are ready on your car then transfer to Yangon Airport for a domestic flight to Bagan by Yangon Airways via HK917 at 06.30-07.50 (daily flight).

Upon arrival in Bagan, you will enjoy sightseeing included the busy local market then visits to a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples such as Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century, Ku Byauk Gyi, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes, Khay Min Ga Temple, noted for its spectacular panoramic view of the area’s many monuments and Ananda Temple with four huge standing Buddha images and numerous seated figures in niches around the galleried interior.

After visit, transfer to hotel for check in and a moment of rest.

Afternoon, continue to visit a lacquer craftsmen’s workshop in nearby Myinkaba village and sightseeing to Manuha Temple, built in mon style in 1059, Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument, said to have been the palace of King Manuha and Myingaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple, noted for its ancient mural paintings under the protection of UNESCO. The Archaeological Museum with a collection of bronze, stone and lacquer Buddha images, clothes and gems, may also be visited. Proceed to Bupaya Pagoda to watch the sunset.

Day 3: BAGAN - MOUNTAIN POPA - BAGAN (by A/C car 50 km)

After breakfast, take an excursion to Mountain Popa - an extinct volcano that is estimated to have erupted for the final time, over three hundred and twenty thousand years ago. However, popa’s attraction today lies not so much in its geological aspect, but more in its religious and mystical interests which are still prevalent. Popa is popularly recognized as an abode of many "Nats". For the energetic, time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the volcanic plug.

Afternoon, transfer back to Bagan and free at leisure for your own independence activities. Overnight in Bagan. (B)

 

Day 4: BAGAN - MANDALAY (by plane, A/C car)

Today, transfer by road to Bagan Airport for a domestic flight to Mandalay by Yangon Airways via HK917 at 08.05-08.35 (daily flight).

Meet and drive directly to Amarapura, 15 km from Mandalay. Visit Mahagandayon, a famous Buddhist monastery, where more than a thousand monks live and study. Continue to 200-year - old U Bein teak bridge, built in 1782 at the time when Amarapura was the royal capital. Visit of Bagaya Monastery with a superb collection of Buddha statues. Shopping stop at a traditional hand-weaving silk workshop en route.

Afternoon, proceed on a comprehensive sightseeing tour including Mahamuni Pagoda with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaves, Shwe Inbin, one of the most outstanding monasteries in the country, Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung Or Golden Palace Monastery, a superb example of a traditional wooden building and Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s largest book, consisting of 729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. Overnight in Mandalay. (B)

 

Day 5: MANDALAY - HEHO - PINDAYA (by plane, A/C car  90km)

This morning, transfer to Mandalay Airport for a domestic flight to Heho by Yangon Airways via HK918 at 08.50-09.20 (daily flight). After arrival, proceed by road to Pindaya (90 km). Visit Pindaya Caves, unique for the thousands of Buddha images placed there by pilgrims over many centuries. Nobody really knows how these images got here in the first place - they probably were put away there during some turbulent event in history. Since then, more and more images have been added, until now there are close to nine thousand Buddha images of all sizes.

Free for your own leisure at hotel. Overnight in Pindaya. (B)

 

Day 6: PINDAYA - INLE LAKE (by A/C car 90 km, boat)

After breakfast, proceed by road to Inle Lake (90km) then an excursion by boat on Inle Lake will include sights of the famous leg-rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing and village life. Further visits are made to Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the weaving village of Inpawkhon and other sights. Excursion by boat to the western shore of Inle Lake to visit the Inn Thein Pagoda complex, found after following a stair path lined up with magnificent columns. Overnight on the lake. (B)

 

Day 7: HEHO - YANGON then Fly back home via Bang kok (by A/C car, plane)

Early breakfast, check out and transfer to Heho airport for a short domestic flight back to Yangon by Yangon Airways via HK918 at 09.35-10.45 (daily flight). Proceeding to the International terminal in Yangon airport, just a moment of transit, then you would check-in for a international flight to back home via Bang Kok.
