Day 1: ARRIVAL IN YANGON Half day tour (by A/C car & trishaw)

Arrival in Yangon, warm welcome to everybody, a moment of courtesy meeting then self-introduce with tour guides in the meeting point's Yangon Airport. Yangon has been the capital of Myanmar since the middle of the 19th century when the British transformed it into their administrative centre of Further India. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes Yangon one of the most fascinating capitals of South East Asia.

Upon arrival, we discover the colorful capital of Myanmar with a close looks at the local life of this historical city. By car and partly on foot this tour takes in the National Museum, the Sule pagoda in the middle of the city, walk around to see the Mahabandoola Park, the colonial courthouse and the city hall. From there a rickshaw tour around the colonial area with the historical buildings will start, breaking at a local teashop to enjoy Burmese tea and the typical atmosphere. Continue by rickshaw along the famous Strand Road and visit the bustling Yangon harbour.

Transfer to hotel for check in and free at leisure at night. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: YANGON Full day tour (by A/C car)

Today, enjoy sightseeing with visit to Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda which is revered as one of the biggest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar. Then continue visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world’s most spectacular religious monuments, will conclude today's sightseeing tour of this picturesque Garden City. The golden dome of the Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold.  

Afternoon, visit to Kaba Aye (World Peace) Pagoda, Maha Pasana Cave, Buddha Tooth Rello, China town and Souvenir Shop and enjoy photographing with the great back view of the scenic Royal Lake. Back to hote. Overnight in Yangon. (B)

 

Day 3: YANGON - BAGO (by A/C car)

After breakfast at the hotel, leave Yangon and enjoy a scenic journey by road to Bago. Bago, 80km to the north west of Yangon, is an ancient capital of a former Mon kingdom dating back to the 6th century. Sightseeing in Bago includes the beautiful 55 meter long reclining Buddha, Shwethalyaung and the Mon style Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the most venerated in Myanmar. Its spire stands 114m high and is taller even than the Shwedagon Pagoda. End the tour of Bago with a walk around the colourful Bago Market. On the way back to Yangon, visit the Allied War Cemetery near Htaukkyan, the final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers, and also visit a local woven bamboo factory.

Drive back to Yangon and free at leisure for your own activities. Overnight in Yangon. (B)

 

Day 4: YANGON - BAGAN (by A/C car, plane)

Breakfast in box, transfer to Yangon Airport by domestic flight YH917 at 06.30 – 07.50 to Bagan. Upon arrival in Bagan, transfer to hotel and proceed for sightseeing starting with the busy local market and continuing with visits to a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples such as Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century, Ku Byauk Gyi, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes, Khay Min Ga Temple, noted for its spectacular panoramic view of the area’s many monuments and Ananda Temple with four huge standing Buddha images and numerous seated figures in niches around the galleried interior. Afternoon a visit of a lacquer craftsmen’s workshop in nearby Myinkaba village and sightseeing to Manuha Temple, built in Mon style in 1059, Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument, said to have been the palace of King Manuha and Myingaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple, noted for its ancient mural paintings. Observe sunset in the vicinity of Bagan’s ancient monuments.

Day 5: BAGAN -MOUNT POPA - BAGAN  (by A/C car)

From your hotel, proceed on a scenic overland journey to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with its shrine dedicated to animist sprits, known as "Nats". For the energetic, there is time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the volcanic plug. Return to Bagan and free at leisure.

Day 6: BAGAN - MANDALAY (by A/C car, plane, boat)

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Yangon airport for a flight of YH917 at 08.00 – 08.30 Mandalay, the former capital of Myanmar. Upon arrival at the new Mandalay Airport proceed directly a comprehensive sightseeing tour including Mahamuni Pagoda with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaves, Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung or Golden Palace Monastery, a superb example of a traditional wooden building and Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s largest book, consisting of 729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. A visit is also made to a craftsmen’s workshop to see Kalaga tapestries being created.

In the afternoon, a boat trip on the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River takes us to Mingun about 11 km (1 hour) upriver from Mandalay where visits include the Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tons and being the largest uncracked bell in the world, Hsinbyume Paya and the unfinished Mingun Paya, built as one of the world’s largest Chedis by King Bodaw Paya.

Back to your hotel and free at leisure for your own activities. Overnight in Mandalay. (B)

 

 

Day 7: MANDALAY  - MINGUN  - AVA - SAGAING - MANDALAY (by A/C car)

Excursion to the former royal capital of INWA (AVA), reached by a short boat trip. Visits by horse-drawn carriage to Nanmyint Watch Tower, the remains of the palace building nicknamed "leaning tower of Ava", Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and Bargayar Monastery, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts. Continue to Sagaing Hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees, for sunset.

Return to hotel and free at leisure. Overnight in Mandalay. (B)

 

Day 8: MANDALAY - YANGON & DEPARTURE (by A/C car, plane)

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Mandalay airport for a morning flight to Yangon by YH918 at 08.45-10.35, then take a connecting flight back home. Have a safe trip come home!
