Binh, Phat Diem Cathedral was built between 1875 and 1899 and consists
of a network of ponds, lakes, churches, and artificial caves.
The author of this world-famous architectural complex was a “simple”
priest, not architect, Father Tran Luc. Being remarkable for its vast
dimensions and unique architecture in Vietnam, the cathedral complex
comprises many monuments built in the different years :

Stone Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Mary (1883), Wood Chapel of the
Sacred Heart of Jesus (1889), Chapel of Saint Peter (1896), Chapel of
Saint Joseph (1896), Chapel of Saint Roch (1895),
and some other monuments. The main and first
		one being the Cathedral
		was built in 1891
		with four
roofs and six sets of iron wooden pillars. On both sides of the church
are four smaller churches of different styles. On the extreme north
		corner are three stone caves.

In completing these architectural works, father Tran Luc’s performance
as an architect was so perfect that he could be compared to a field
commander who controls efficiently his army of stones and bricks.
After visiting, transfer back to Hanoi then check-in and time of rest.
