 YANGON - MANDALAY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN YANGON & Half day tour (by A/C car, rickshaw)

Arrival in Yangon airport via Bang Kok, warm welcome to everybody, a moment of courtesy meeting then self-introduce with tour guides in the meeting point's Yangon Airport.

Welcome to Yangon has been the capital of Myanmar since the middle of the 19th century when the British transformed it into their administrative centre of Further India. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes Yangon one of the most fascinating capitals of South East Asia.

Please note that standard check in time is 14.00, check out at 12.00. Early check in or late check-out is subject to room availability. Hotel would probably guarantee early check in or late checkout as an extra surcharge on depend to the rooming’s status at that time.

Transfer to hotel for check-in (at 14.00 or earlier if rooms are available) and a moment of rest.

Afternoon, we discover the colorful capital of Myanmar with a close looks at the local life of this historical city. By car and partly on foot this tour takes in the National Museum, the Sule pagoda in the middle of the city, walk around to see the Mahabandoola Park, the colonial courthouse and the city hall. From there a rickshaw tour around the colonial area with the historical buildings will start, breaking at a local teashop to enjoy Burmese tea and the typical atmosphere. Continue by rickshaw along the famous Strand Road and visit the bustling Yangon harbour.

Back to the hotel and free at leisure. Overnight in Yangon.

 

DAY 2: YANGON Full day tour (by A/C car)

After breakfast, enjoy sightseeing with visit to Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda which is revered as one of the biggest reclining Buddha image in Myanmar. Then continue visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world’s most spectacular religious monuments, will conclude today's sightseeing tour of this picturesque Garden City. The golden dome of the Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold.  

Afternoon, visit to Kaba Aye (World Peace) Pagoda, Maha Pasana Cave, Buddha Tooth Rello, China town and Souvenir Shop and enjoy photographing with the great back view of the scenic Royal Lake. Back to the hotel and free at leisure. Overnight in Yangon. (B)

 

DAY 3: YANGON - MANDALAY (by A/C car, plane, boat)

This morning, early wake up, check out, breakfast in box and transfer to the Yangon Airport by domestic flight  RGN/MDL 6t 401 at 06.30-08.35/or w9 143  at 06.30-08.35 (supposing) to Mandalay, the former capital of Myanmar.

Upon arrival at the new Mandalay Airport proceed directly a comprehensive sightseeing tour including Mahamuni Pagoda with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaves, Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung or Golden Palace Monastery, a superb example of a traditional wooden building and Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s largest book, consisting of 729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. A visit is also made to a craftsmen’s workshop to see Kalaga tapestries being created.

Transfer to hotel for check-in (at 14.00 or earlier if rooms are available) and a moment of rest.

Afternoon, a boat trip on the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River takes us to Mingun about 11 km (1 hour) upriver from Mandalay where visits include the Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tons and being the largest uncracked bell in the world, Hsinbyume Paya and the unfinished Mingun Paya, built as one of the world’s largest Chedis by King Bodaw Paya.

Back to your hotel and free at leisure for your own activities. Overnight in Mandalay. (B)

 

DAY 4: MANDALAY - MINGUN - INWA (AVA) - SAGAING (by A/C car, boat, horse carriage)

After breakfast, transfer to the jetty and board a boat for a cruise over the Irrawaddy River towards the former capital of Mingun. After a 45-minute cruise, arrive in Mingun, famous for its huge unfinished  pagoda also home to the Mingun Bell, considered as the world’s largest uncracked ringing bell. Also visit the beautiful white Hsinbyume Pagoda.

Enjoy a ferry crossing to Inwa, situated on the banks of the Irrawaddy River. Excursion to the former royal capital of Inwa (Ava), reached by a short boat trip. Visits by horse-drawn carriage to Nanmyint Watch Tower, the remains of the palace building nicknamed "leaning tower of Ava", Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and Bargayar Monastery, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts. On the way, stop and observe how local artisans make the famous alms bowls out of iron. Continue to Sagaing Hills, a retreat for Buddhist devotees for sunset.

Back to your hotel and free at leisure at night. Overnight in Mandalay. (B)

 

DAY 5: MANDALAY - YANGON & FLY BACK HOME FROM YANGON (by A/C car, plane)

This morning, early wake up, check out, breakfast in box and transfer to Mandalay airport for a morning flight to Yangon by MDL/RGN 6T 406 at 08.40-10.40 /or W9 011 at 08.50-10.35.

Then take time to free at leisure inside the airport until time for a connecting flight back home via Bangkok. Have a safe trip come home!
