Day 1: ARRIVAL IN YANGON

arrival Yangon. Meet, greet and transfer to Hotel for overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: YANGON - MANDALAY, boarding the “Road To Mandalay” cruise of AYEYARWADY ADVENTURE.

Morning domestic flight  W9 011 at 07:30-08:30 from Yangon to Mandalay. On arrival transfer to the “Road To Mandalay” cruise berthed on the Ayeyarwady River at Shwe Kyet Yet. After lunch, enjoy a guided tour of the key sights of Mandalay regarded as the centre of Burmese culture and Buddhist learning. Return to Road To Mandalay stopping enroute to admire the sunset over the river. Dinner and local entertainment on board.

 

Day 3: (Burmese Village)

After an early breakfast visit a local village for a walking tour. This traditional Burmese village gives you the opportunity to discover the Burmese way of life first hand - from farming and handicrafts to spirit houses and tea-shops. The ship gets underway mid morning and begins its journey south. The rest of the day is spent relaxing on board observing the fascinating local river life from the top deck. An on-board guide lectures on the Myanmar way of life. Dinner on board in the evening.

 

Day 4: (Bagan)

The ship arrives at Bagan where over 2,000 temples and pagodas are scattered over an awe-inspiring plain beside the river. A guided orientation tour introduces you to the most important temples. After lunch you may rejoin the guide to visit the inside of some of the more significant pagodas. Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle or horse-drawn cart and explore this fascinating area on your own. Late afternoon the guide takes you to watch the sun setting over a field of glowing pagodas by the river. Dinner and local entertainment in the evening.

 

Day 5: (Mount Popa)

A full day excursion to Mount Popa, a national park and believed to be the sacred home of powerful 'Nats' (spirits). On top of a rocky crag is a picturesque complex of monasteries, pagodas and shrines which can be reached via a winding, covered walkway. Lunch is taken at the Mount Popa Resort. Dinner and local entertainment on board.

 

Day 6: (Bagan)

After breakfast join the guide to explore some of Bagan's local markets selling wood carvings, fabrics, longis and rattan goods. See Myanmar's famous lacquerware being made. Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle or horse-drawn cart and explore this enchanting area on your own. Mid-morning, the ship sets sail for Mandalay. On board the guide lectures on the Ayeyarwady River. The ship anchors mid-river for the evening providing a marvellous opportunity to observe the stars. A casual cocktail party is followed by dinner.

 

Day 7: (Sagaing)

Continue sailing up the river until Road To Mandalay arrives at the little Burmese village of Shwe Kyet Yet in the early afternoon. After lunch enjoy an excursion to Sagaing considered to be the living centre of the Buddhist faith in Myanmar and famous for its silversmiths who still work in much the same way as their ancestors did. Return to the ship for dinner and local entertainment.

 

Day 8: (Maymyo)

Visit Maymyo, a colonial hill station set high in the mountains. Soak up the atmosphere with its cool climate, English style houses, colourful market and beautiful botanic gardens. A typical Shan lunch is taken at a colonial house. Return to the ship for a final dinner on board. Overnight on board.

 

Day 9: Mandalay - Yangon - Golden Rock (Kyaikhtiyo)

After an early breakfast, you will disembark and transfer to Mandalay's airport fly to Yangon for a morning flight back Yangon by MDL/RGN 6T 406 at 08.40-10.40 /or W9 011 at 08.50-10.35.

Leaving Yangon airport right after, enjoy a scenic journey by road to Kyaiktiyo, 190km to the east. Late morning, arrive at Kyaiktiyo base camp and transfer to the transit junction with one of the small open trucks in a 1-hour ride. Start an easy one-hour walk up to the Golden Rock and enjoy sunset from this unforgettable site. One of Myanmar's great pilgrimage sites is the Golden Rock at Kyaiktiyo, a huge boulder covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. The pagoda at the Golden Rock is said to hold a hair of the Buddha.

Transfer to hotel for check in and take your time to free at leisure for your independent activities. Overnight in Kyaikhtiyo. (B)

 

Day 10:  Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock) - Bago - Yangon

This morning, check out right after breakfast; continue by road for 110km to Bago, an ancient capital dating back to the 6th century. Sightseeing in Bago includes the beautiful 55 meter long reclining Buddha called Shwethalyaung and the Mon style Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the most venerated in Myanmar. Its spire stands 114m high and is taller even than the Shwedagon Pagoda. Visit also the huge 4 sitting Buddha’s "Kyaikpun”. Return by road to Yangon, visiting the Allied War Cemetery near Htaukkyan, the final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers, and also visit a local woven bamboo factory.

Transfer back to Yangon and transfer to hotel for check in and take your time to free at leisure for your independent activities. overnight in Yangon. (B)

 

Day 11: Yangon - full day Sightseeing

After breakfast, we discover the colourful capital of Myanmar with a close looks at the local life of this historical city. Yangon sightseeing tour includes the old colonial style city center with the gilded Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years and Botataung Pagoda. Continue sightseeing to Chaukhtatgyi, a huge reclining Buddha image followed by photo stop made at Karaweik Hall, a royal floating barge, a visit of a gems shop, Kaba Aye (World peace) Pagoda and Mahapasana Guha Cave, where the sixth Buddhist synod took place. Then shopping at Bogyoke (Scotts) Market with hundreds of stores and of gems shops. After that, visit to Lawkachangthar Arbaya Larbamuni (Kyauktawgyi). An extended visit to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world’s most spectacular religious monuments and the golden dome of Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold, will conclude the tour of this picturesque garden city.

Back to hotel and free at leisure at night for your own activities. Overnight in Yangon. (B)

 

Day 12: Yangon - Thanlyin (Syriam) - Yangon

After breakfast, enjoy an outside city excursion to Thanlyin (Syriam). It is about 30 mins ride from Yangon by car across Thanlyin Bridge. Visit old Portuguese buildings, Kyaik Khauk Yele Pagoda on a small island at Kyauktan, 12 km south of Thanlyin & the most colourful riverside market.

Return to Yangon in the afternoon. Then take a look and enjoy shopping into the Yangon’s largest & busiest Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) market with hundreds of stores and and interesting gems shops. Finally, visit to the China town and the fruit market.

Back to your hotel and free leisure at night. Overnight in Yangon. (B)

 

Day 13: After breakfast, free time until check out then transfer to Yangon airport for fly  back home. It’s timely; you have to say Good-Bye Myanmar.
